Annie Morrad A Senior Lecturer in BA and MA Photo and MA Fine Art University of Lincoln, UK Module coordinator for Practice Based modules and Ideas Based Modules in moving and still image. I teach and give lectures in BA and MA Photo and MA in Fine Art. Lectures include how ideas are formed, semiotics, using practice based methods for research, using 'not knowing’ as a tool and learning by doing. Dr Annie Morrad is an internationally exhibited artist, musician and lecturer. https://amorrad.myportfolio.com/ https://www.instagram.com/anniemorrad/ https://artsandculture.google.com/search?q=annie+morrad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiHHSrjRrrQ https://vimeo.com/user4122193 https://soundcloud.com/jardin-des-oiseaux https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC19dXDXl3G1-c7a5fptTcRA https://www.researchcatalogue.net/profile My art practice incorporates: music; installation; photography; performance; video and sound. I also play tenor saxophone. I produce artwork that considers interaction, interconnection and encounters with non-human species. I believe that at the dawn of the Time/Earth there was one language, conducted through timbre, sound, gesture, and rhythm as well as touch and smell. This language was uttered by all species in communication with each other. Some humans lost their ability to use this language and turned into what we know as ‘music’. Part of my art practice is to rediscover this language and have dialogues with non-human species. I am opposed to speciesism ( discrimination by a single species to any other species) and hierarchical concepts. My research impacts and produces outcomes which were created with non-human species’ interaction, field recordings, live improvised saxophone playing and digital electron interfaces. The produced language is then transferred into a language formed through art practice. This in turn produces a dialogue between the final artwork and receiver. Consequently, there is evidence that co-production and co-authorship with non-human animal species is possible. This is not through a pre-decided intention, or music score which suggests a hierarchical position. In contrast, it is one that enables agency in all participants as subjects and not objects. 2025: Exhibitions: Corset, Newark, March, 2025 Conferences: Salford, UK: Sixteenth International Conference on The Image, at University of Salford.
