An internationally shown UK artist based in Lincoln and London. I am a mix-media multi-disciplined artist who works with migration, ecology, non-hierarchy and "a round table"… Working with bits and bobs in co-productions and collaborations. My art practice incorporates: music; installation; photography; painting; drawing; performance; video and sound. I also play tenor saxophone. I produce artwork that considers interaction, interconnection and encounters with non-human species.I believe that at the dawn of the Time/Earth there was one language, conducted through timbre, sound, gesture, and rhythm as well as touch and smell. This language was uttered by all species in communication with each other. Humans lost their ability to use this language and turned it into what we know as ‘music’. Part of my art practice is to rediscover this language and have dialogues with non-human species. I am opposed to speciesism ( discrimination by a single species to any other species) and hierarchical concepts. My art practice has produced sound and image work, some based within, silent videos, field recordings and interviews that are interwoven with live saxophone playing. I work with performers, video makers, painters and installation art collaborations with sound and image. My Phd engaged with practice-led research and explores the key components that I unknowingly draw upon, during live improvised saxophone playing as a component in my art practice. https://www.instagram.com/anniemorrad/
